Hi fellow Project LEAF fans-
Project LEAF had their second site visit by the State on Wednesday, December 7th, 2011. A State grant officer has visited us already back on October 10th, 2011. The State had over 405 Grant applications for the July 1st deadline of Prop 84 funds for the creation of new statewide parks program. There were funds of $368M available for development of projects just like ours, of which $184M remains to be awarded. The State has notified us that in this round, requests for proposals has exceeded $1.5B.
We feel this is excellent news and we are hopeful that the State will consider this Grant application that will help make Project LEAF a reality. Most projects were not even receiving a site visit and our site has received two, so we feel that we have at least stepped into the next level of the grant application process.
The officers who visited our site were greeted by Melanie & Kristoffer, project directors of Project LEAF, Trish Spencer from AUSD, & Jennifer deGraaf one of our landscape architects. The meeting which lasted about 1 hour discussed and walked the school site, explained how project LEAF was formed and discussed our efforts which led us to this meeting.
We hope that all of you following us will continue to send us your support and help expand Project LEAF's community and members! Follow us on facebook, sign our petition, and forward this to your friends in the Greater Bay Area! We are always on the lookout for new grant opportunities, funding or events to participate in. Please forward anything you think we should take a look at.
Thank you very mulch! - The Project LEAF team.
